A lot of people are saying that Facebook is dead, what I say Facebook is NOT dead, it’s just the beginning. In this VIDEO blog article I explain why Facebook is one of the most important channels.
Some time ago like 5/4 years ago you would post something on Facebook and you would get tons of engagement, now you post something and you get 5 likes which comes from you, your mother and your friends. Let’s go back and see how many users Facebook had in 2004. Based on Facebook Newsroom Graphic it had 1million users and 2013 Facebook had 1,230 million. That’s a very big number.
As of the first quarter of 2015, Facebook had 1.44 billion monthly active users. In the third quarter of 2012, the number of active Facebook users had surpassed 1 billion. Active users are those which have logged in to Facebook during the last 30 days. What this means is that there are more people and BRANDS on Facebook. More marketing messages, more adverts and less engagement on business’s fan page. The reason is very simple, people go to Facebook to see what their friends are doing, NOT what brands are doing.
Now Facebook Dark Posts are something new, not a lot of marketers USE them because they don’t know WHAT you know yet by reading this article. This is a huge advantage to YOU and ME. Facebook dark post appear on users timeline, not on the right hand side but in their newsfeed. If you run an advert that is generic, that doesn’t appeal to the user they will not engage with you. With FB dark posts you can target specific people. Facebook has all our data, what we like, what we don’t, what books we read, our relationship status, EVERYTHING.
By knowing that we need to use it efficiently. You need to create posts/adverts targeting people with a specific interest. For example you can create 10 adverts to only women in their 30-35, in a relationship and who like fashion. When you create a message for them it should be different, because YOU know that they are in a relationship! For single women you need to create a different message. For men who like golf it should be a different message. Create different sets of adverts, 10 for one target audience, 10 for another. See what works and what doesn’t work. Based on that banners get clicked create more of those.
Currently Facebook dark posts are underpriced, like Google Ad Words were in the beginning so jump on them now that it’s cheaper and more efficient because after a year or so more and more people will jump on it and you will have to pay £10 for a view like you do now for an expensive keyword.
I hope you understood how important Facebook Dark posts are and start using them. If you have any questions, please comment below. If you are on Facebook, do like my fan page to stay up to date with my recent activities.
